Area(s) of Competence:
I have treated and diagnosed mental and emotional disorders of college-aged students and have designed curriculum and co-facilitated support groups for those struggling with boundary problems, eating disorders, sexual abuse trauma, and sexuality shame issues. I have also provided therapy for newly married couples, facilitated engagement counseling, and mediated family crises. I have worked with clients who are in crisis situations, clients who have experienced major life changes, and clients who have struggled with long-term mental and emotional issues.

Area(s) of Special Focus:
I specialize in working with teenagers and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, self-harm, family of origin issues, relational issues, boundary issues, spiritual doubts and obsessions, eating disorders, grief, sexual abuse trauma, and sexual addictions.

Counseling Approach:
I provide a warm and encouraging environment for those who are seeking not only to better understand their problems, but who also desire accountability and support as they work through their struggles (past and current) in order to embrace hope and live in freedom. I utilize God’s Word along with various Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy techniques to help facilitate healing and growth. I am open to adapting my approach and utilizing a wide variety of techniques that will enhance the healing and growth that my clients need and are seeking. I consider it both a joy and privilege to come alongside those who need a listening ear, a helping heart, and a guiding voice.

Testimonials:
"As a newly engaged couple we knew pre-marital counseling was important to both of us so we did our homework trying to find a Christian counselor that would fit our needs. Our research led us to new reflections counseling. A simple phone call put us in touch with Jessica who has no doubt been a God send. We both feel completely comfortable with her and she does such a great job of lovingly helping us through whatever challenges we are facing . We finished our pre-marital counseling with a bag full of tools that we can now use to help guide us throughout our marriage. We have also made the decision to continue to come back as needed for check ins and as challenges arise. Jessica has truly been a blessing to us and we thank God for her regularly. She has been a great asset to building the foundation of strength that will allow us to successfully grow old together."

"While we weren't excited about the need for counseling, we have found it to be tremendously helpful and beneficial to our relationships with each other and our family. Thank you Jessica!"

"Jessica Buczek has been my counselor for about 18 months now. Her friendly professionalism has been a joy to work with. Jessica's warm and caring demeanor has offered the safe atmosphere I've needed to address lifelong unhealthy patterns of thinking and behavior related to dysfunctional family of origin issues, childhood sexual abuse and multiple traumas. Her therapeutic style has been rather holistic and flexible, using diverse skills, therapeutic tools and types of therapies as needed for my healing process. She has been supportive of my needs and sensitive to my trust issues and fear of change by including me in the planning process and helping me learn how to accept change as it comes. Jessica continues to help me understand my childhood experiences and how they affect my adulthood. Through the use of Prolonged Exposure Therapy, the effects of childhood traumas have less impact on my life and I am no longer in bondage to the fears and behaviors of avoidance related to those specific traumas. Jessica challenges my unhealthy ways of coping and distorted thinking by teaching me to identify the distortions, find and put into practice healthier alternatives, and by providing constructive feedback and guidance. She continues to help me better understand myself and others in my life. One thing I personally appreciate is that Jessica intentionally listens to my problems and processes my issues through the lens of the Holy Spirit. This example has been encouraging to me as I learn how to process my issues for myself, learn how to make healthy choices, learn how to deepen my faith, trust and relationship with Jesus and discover my identity in Him. I am thankful to be on this journey and grateful for Jessica's part in it. Coming to NRC has been life changing."

"A year and a half ago I was in a tumultuous place in my life and knew I needed to seek out guidance from someone who was a third person to help process all that was happening. A family member made me aware of New Reflections Counseling services. Looking back I know that God's hand was in it all and Jessica became my counselor. I have received a blessing of not only having a listening ear but a person who has challenged me and my thinking. Coming out on the other side of life last year is such a relief but more than that, I am incredibly grateful for the experience to grow in who I am and continue in this process by learning more about myself and healthy behavior through my counseling experience with Jessica."

"It's hard put into words how helpful Jessica has been and how much God has used her in my life over the past couple of months. She has divine wisdom, is open and raw in the most relatable way, and has a truly caring heart. Through Jessica's passion for God and people, she has given me support and guidance on so many different areas of my life. I initially saw Jessica for anxiety and have seen not only the anxiety decrease substantially through her guidance but also other pressures I was carrying. She also has impressive training in the field of psychology and counseling, so her practical guidance has given me steps to take on a daily basis that have gotten me from point A to point B. I'm not sure where I would be today without her dedication to my healing, but I am so incredibly thankful that she has come alongside of me on my journey. She is a sincere person and incredibly gifted counselor."
